The world is very large. We can visit different natural attractions: volcanos, mountains, forests, or oceans. Also we can see different animals: wild or pets. And now I want to tell you about about nature.
In 1993, Greg Mortenson set out to climb the world’s second highest mountain.
After five days, he stumbled into the village of Korphe in northern Pakistan.
He saw that the villagers were very poor,children didn’t have school.
After Greg said »I’ll build you a school,I promise ! »
. He went back home to the USA to raise money for the school.
Since then, Greg’s organization has build around 80 schools and runs many other in Pakistan Afghanistan and other countries ,too.
But not everything can be so good. In mountains can be an earthquake. In Port-au-Prince earthquake that happened four days ago has destroyed most of the buildings. Thousands have lost their lives or have terrible injuries and even more have lost their homes. On Tuesday a rescue team pulled a five-year-old boy out from the rubble.
After mountains we can visit oceans. There are five oceans- the Pacfic, the Antlantic, the Indian,the Southern and the Atlantic.So far,scientists have recorded more than 230,000 speies of living creatures and plants and that's just underwater.Our oceans are full of amazing beauty from colorful coral reefs to majestic whales.Unfortunately pollution from factories is poisoning fish in our ocean.There are fewer fish every day.
And now I want to tell you about animals. Pink River Dolphin lives in Amazon River. They swim in polluted water and sometimes get caught in fishermen’s nests. But gorillas live in rainforest of Cameroon. It’s a pity, that there are only 300 gorillas. And Sea Turtles on Island Greek Zakinthos lay their eggs. The problem that tourists often damage their nests by accident.
The Siberian Tiger is the largest cat species on the Earth, they live in the forests of the Sikhote-Alin mountain range east of the Amur River in the southeastern region of Russia. This animal grow up three meters and weigh 300 kg. It’s animal has a long, think legs, that crable it to run at speeds of up to 800 kmpk. It need 10 kg of meal a day, but it can eat up to 50 kg in one meal. The Siberian tiger has suffered because of deforestation and poaching and is an endangered species. We should all help this great animal to survive.
Also animals have their day, it is very strange. World Animal Day started in 1931 when ecologists meeting at a convention in Florence decided it would be a good way to highlight the difficult situation of endangered animals species.Animal lovers hold events in all major cities to increase awareness of animal welfare.Many zoos and nature reserves open their gates and allow people free entrance to see and learn about animals. World Animal Day is a great way to get together and do something truly worthwhile.
So we can talk about famous people. On 22nd Juanary 2007 Dave Cornthwaite became a first person who scateboard across australia. He set a new world record, but it was whis many physicals pains. He had a serious incident in Adelaide whe he jumped on a piece of metal and that cut trough his feet.
There are many celebrating days, and now I want to tell you about one of them. Red Nose Day is part of Comic Relief a big charity event in the UK ! A famous British comedy writer. Richard Curtis organised the first Comic Relief to raise money for the terrible famine.
